4,000+ Religions - How Come?

Have you wondered why we have 4,000+ religions, each with its own interpretation of God’s message?

Personally, for a long time I never questioned it. Because I was taught not to.

“Just. Have. Faith.”

I thought to question was wrong, in fact, many years ago we burned people at the stake and ostracised those who tried to.

Even today, in some countries, such deed will put you in jail (or worse).

Crazy, right?

Over the years, I thought about this a lot. I never publicly discussed it, it was just a lingering curiosity.

And…

What would my family think? What would my friends think?

God’s message to us is Unconditional Love.

I believe that to be the ‘original message’, not because I heard it but because it’s what resonates with my ‘higher self’.

Obviously, there’s nothing wrong with God’s original message.

But what if, perhaps the interpreters of that message, those who wrote it down for the rest of us - didn’t get it all with 100% accuracy? Or left it incomplete?

Is that a possibility?

Often, if not always, when an original idea is passed down, interpreted and intervened by man, here’s what happens…

It’s like Chinese whispers: It gets distorted. It becomes subjective. Soon, it becomes organised.

Now, isn’t it interesting though, when it comes to new human advancements in science, technology, entertainment, etc we will immediately question all parts of it.

BUT when it comes to our most sacred beliefs…

We stay silent and just accept it because it’s tradition, or what we grew up with or because we've been told it’s the ‘truth’.

Most of us have held on to these sacred messages that’s been around for thousands of years, without ever questioning them, and where did it lead us?

Sure, it has connected many of us together to be with other like-minded individuals.

Sure, it has dug many of us out of the worst situations.

Sure, it has given us hope by believing in a higher power beyond ourselves.

But it has also led us to war, separation and dysfunction.

So - Is there something about God which we don’t yet fully understand?

We’re at a time when more people are evolving at a higher conscious level.

We’re at a time when these types of questions are being asked.

Because for the sake of humanity and our future, we need to. We’ve come to that point of our evolution.

We must not just think about God, we must begin conversations about God.

I tell you, the God discussions I’ve had with people in the last few months (inc. last night) with Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, Jehovah’s Witness, Hillsong, Protestants, etc have been so enlightening.

To be able to sit in a room together and discuss God with an open mind reminds me again of our interconnectedness in this eternal fabric of the Universe.

So I pose this question to you once again, as Neale Donald Walsch would say,

Is it possible there’s something we don’t yet fully understand about God?

The understanding of which would change everything - for the better?
