Does God Let Bad Things Happen?

If there is God, then why does he let bad things happen?

It’s a very fair question that many of us, including myself have asked from time to time.

Here’s what I believe -

God doesn’t let bad things happen.

He is not there to intervene and fix everything, create or uncreate our circumstances.

Intervening would defeat the purpose of free will - we get to decide and have been given the creative powers to produce the type of reality and experience we want.

God created us in her image and likeness - it’s up to us to do the rest.

Though simple, it’s historically proven to be extremely hard for us to execute.

Check this out - over 600+ children die of starvation every hour.

Yet, here we are throwing away food for the sake of getting more views on TikTok.

Even to this day, female tennis players have unequal pay to males.

Yet simply, we get to choose.

Still, we look for God as our authority for all manner of injustice, bigotry, violence…that WE have created.

Perhaps we are not highly evolved as we think.

There is comfort in this understanding though - it tells us we can continue to move towards a more conscious, higher evolved species.

I believe we’ve arrived at a turning point in our evolution where the process has drastically sped up, a conscious movement.

As for natural disasters and sickness - did we create those too?

What I believe is it’s not a matter of whether we do or don’t create them, but how we respond (as individuals and as a collective) to such events.

When I recall the car accident I had with my family in 2020, I witnessed the power of human compassion.

We were surrounded by ambulances, fire trucks and other service men and women who made it their purpose to help us.

Such events teach us to come together.

It is only when we see and experience darkness are we able to see and experience the light.

In essence, these events are opportunities for us to know and experience Who We Really Are.

It may not look like that now, I know.

In some parts of the world, it seems almost hopeless.

But perhaps there is a much bigger picture that we are not seeing.

Trust that your soul’s agenda is larger than you can comprehend.

God is not to be feared but an invitation for us to step away from our fears…

And choose Love.
